The deadline is fast approaching for the 3rd Annual Evil City Film Fest (East Village City Film Fest) Be sure to submit before August 1st.
We screen over 100 films over 4 days and make the whole experience filmmaker friendly for a complete NYC experience.
Based in NY's East Village, we've strived to provide an alternative outlet for edgy filmmakers to play their work, aside from some of the elite fests that dominate Manhattan.
Our program showcases both short and long-form documentaries & narratives. In addition, we play music videos, animated work, experimental and horror films. This year we are proud to call Anthology Film Archives our home.
Check us out, we are very interested in the subversive, avant-garde, under-exposed and truly independent filmmakers that are out there and destined to be acknowledged.

Digital Broadway Commissions
Call for entries
Digital Broadway is now seeking applications to its DIGITAL COMMISSIONS.
Broadway Cinema and Media Centre Nottingham has launched DIGITAL BROADWAY, its new exhibition programme of digital art and moving image. Broadway now has 4 distinct areas to exhibit moving image artwork within the building:
- The Glass Screen - Large scale projections on the glazed front of the building. Viewable from the street and inside the Mezzanine bar.
- The Bar Screen - large projections in the popular ground floor cafe bar space.
- The Small Screens - an LCD screen network located around the building.
- Cinema Screen - Monthly screenings of artists' film and video (last Tuesday each month)
We are looking to commission exclusive art work for Broadway's Bar Screen and Glass Screen.
6 x Glass Screen commissions at $31000 each. The work will be shown for six weeks.
8 x Bar Screen commissions at $3500 each. The work will be shown for four weeks.
These commissions are possible with the assistance of Arts Council England funding.

Kassel Documentary Film & Video Festival annually

Impure Cinema: Hybrid Works Rupturing Media's Boundaries

Studio 27, a micro-cinema in San Francisco that hosts avant-garde film and video screenings, is looking for short experimental films and videos for Overlap 06. This is an art event that will take place at the Rx Gallery in San Francisco on June 23rd, 2007. Sponsored by overlap.org, this one night festival is a continuation of a series of live events which are programed to showcase independent music and art. Please see overlap.org for more information on past and upcoming events. Studio 27's collaboration will provide a curated screening of works by film and video artists who are dedicated to experimentation, and whose art reflects a spirit of exploration. The screening will take place within the standing room environment of the Rx Gallery in the Tenderloin, and will have a dedicated high-lumen projector and film screen featured at the front of the room. It will stand separate from the audio art and music featured at different times during the evening. The focus of this program is to promote the re-defining of "screening space."<p>We are requesting work less than 7 minutes in length.This international call is open to all individuals and does not discriminate based on age, gender, race, ect. There is no submission fee and no compensation for participation or mailing of materials.<P>Please send all materials noted below to our mailing address no later than June 20th, 2007. We will consider previewing on-line submissions ONLY if you include all requested descriptions and related data at the time of preview, AND you can provide a screening copy, sent by mail, by the deadline date of June 20th.

2007 ANAT Emerging Technologies Mentorship
ANAT is offering the opportunity for young and emerging practitioners working with distributed, portable, online, wearable, gaming, mobile and emerging platforms to undertake a three-month mentorship with an established practitioner of their choice.

The mentorship enables an emerging artist to explore new creative directions, to expand technical skills and increase knowledge of networks, debates and business practice. Applicants are invited to select a mentor and develop a program of activity spanning a three-month period. By utilising emerging technologies the mentor may be accessed locally, nationally or internationally and the successful applicant will maintain a blog for the duration of the mentorship on the ANAT server.

Applicants must be emerging technologies practitioners who are 30 years or under. The mentorship will provide a fee for the mentoree ($7,200 excl GST) and a fee for the mentor ($1,800 excl GST). The mentorship program should be completed by early December 2007.

Image Radio - Interactive Experiments in Public Space.
From November 2 – 4, 2007, the first Image Radio is held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. We are now inviting artists who work with new and interactive media to submit works for Image Radio.
Image Radio presents a series of interactive new media installations that investigate the phenomenon of ‘Urban Screens’: How do moving images in public space function beyond commercial aspects? By ‘image’ we not only mean projections or large format display devices, but also PDAs, mobile phones, laptops, and navigation devices, as well as screens in shops, buses, cars etc.

working title: peace - utopia or real space?

-Is peace just a term with no location, an "u-topia", something which exists only as an idealistic phantasy, is peace just absence of conflict or a form of power itself which creates its own restrictions and forms of radicalism?
-What can be the meaning of peace, where could peace be located, how is it possible to transfer peace into daily life of society and which forms of transfer and implementantion can be possible and can come to reality through art?

The planned 4 week art project, taking place in Oktober 2008 in Berlin, focusses on these questions. Artists and groups who are intensively working with this theme are invited to present their projects via an internet forum as well as in artist talks, lectures, panel discussions and an exhibition. The project will have a practical, theoretical and an open participatory part and lots of room for dialog, discussions and networking.

There will be a budget for each participating group or single artist but probably no travel expenses or accomodation. Extra money will be raised for a publication of the project.

Faux Fiber
Project Creo: The root of fiber art is based on artists using traditional materials and techniques in unconventional ways. The Arts Center is looking for artists who create work that reverses this dialogue. Artist are encouraged to use materials such as steel, wood and glass to simulate fiber or fiber to simulate other media resulting in a trompe l'oeil that is engaging and refreshing.
Deadline for proposals is August 15, 2007. Faux Fiber will be on display July 11, 2008-August 23, 2008.

Aufgabe Im praktischen Teil der Abschlussprüfung ist in der Fachrichtung Mediendesign im Ausbildungsbereich Printmediengestaltung eine Hauptaufgabe (Aufgabe 1.1: Konzeption und Gestaltung eines Medienprodukts) zu realisieren. Diese Arbeit kann als Wett bewerbsarbeit eingereicht werden.
Wer im Sommer 2007 seine Abschlussprüfung als Mediengestalter für Digital- und Printmedien in der Fachrichtung Mediendesign im Ausbildungsbereich Printmedien ablegt, kann nach der Prüfung seine Prüfungsarbeit einreichen.

Das Ziel der Märkischen Kulturkonferenz e.V. ist die Förderung junger Künstlerinnen und Künstler sowie des kulturellen Lebens im Märkischen Kreis. Dazu vergibt sie jährlich jeweils ein Stipendium für Musik, bildende Kunst und Literatur.
Wer kann sich bewerben?
Bewerben kann sich, wer Deutscher im Sinne des Grundgesetzes ist oder seit mindestens zwei Jahren in Deutschland lebt. Der Abschluss einer künstlerischen Ausbildung soll nicht länger als zehn Jahre zurückliegen.

Konzept über die durch das Stipendium zu fördernde künstlerische Tätigkeit. Die Bewerber sollen darin auch darlegen, wie sie ihrer Verpflichtung im Märkischen Kreis nachkommen wollen.
Stipendiumshöhe:
12.000 Euro, die in monatlichen Teilbeträgen ausgezahlt werden (Stipendiumsdauer 01.01.- 31.12.2008. Feierliche Vergabe der Märkischen Stipendien 2008 erfolgt am Sonntag, 25. November 2007, in Altena.
