MIX NYC every
year New York Lesbian & Gay Experimental
Film Festival
MIX 20
CALL FOR CURATOR, INSTALLATIONS & PERFORMANCES
http://www.mixnyc.org/2006/sites/festival/callforw
Each year the MIX festival happily presents programs conceived, organized
and presented by guest curators, including the annual installments
from our sister festivals in Mexico and Brasil.
Guest curated programs allow MIX to expand beyond each year’s
call for work, present innovative programming and provides opportunities
for networking and career building for the artists and curators involved.
Curators are invited to submit proposals
for programs of film, video and digital media.
In addition to these formats, MIX welcomes proposals for multimedia
installations, media-based performances, interactive projects, and
any other alternative explorations of moving-image form. Guest curators
are particularly encouraged to connect new or underserved communities
to MIX, especially proposals from curators, artists and educators
who are lesbian, gay, bi, transgender or two-spirit people
of color. Works by or about LGBTQ youth are strongly
encouraged. Each selected curator or curatorial team is paid a modest
honorarium intended to cover basic costs.

LabforCulture.org
CALL FOR CURATORIAL PROPOSALS - http://www.labforculture.org
LabforCulture.org is the essential online tool for everyone involved
in arts and culture who creates, collaborates, shares and produces
across borders in Europe. This interactive web platform was launched
in 2006 to encourage dialogue, networking and collaboration across
physical, cultural and imaginative borders across 48 countries in
the broader Europe. Initiated by the European Cultural Foundation
(ECF) and jointly developed and supported by many of Europe's leading
cultural organisations, LabforCulture offers a wealth of essential
information, debate and research - including all the latest news,
vital funding tips, blogs and a vast searchable database of cultural
organisations operating from Rome to Reykjavík.
LabforCulture.org will celebrate its first anniversary in the summer
of 2007 and in this context we are pleased to announce a call for
an experienced media art curator or curatorial collaboration to conceptualise
and manage an online presentation of specially commissioned artworks,
for presentation in early 2008.
Call for proposals
This is an open call to Europe-based curators to propose a creative
concept for the LabforCulture anniversary project, be responsible
for the ultimate selection of artworks and critically reflect on the
project throughout its duration and after its end. The concept and
commissioned artworks should address, challenge and rethink issues
such as cross border dialogue, cultural intersections, crossings or
networks, in the context of LabforCulture and cultural cooperation
in the broader Europe. The curatorial proposal will contextualise
and document the work in relation to the scope, content and technological
framework of LabforCulture.org.

is inviting papers and artworks that deal with the
emerging practice of data visualization as an immersive

new processes, functionality and ways of interacting with information
is opening up several new areas of great possibility in which the
data allows newfound thematic and engaging forms of immersion, as

Power and Space Conference:
Transforming the Contemporary City
Call for Papers
7,8 December, Cambridge, UK
deadline for abstract submissions: 13th of July 2007
to be electronically submitted to: info.powerspace<a>expressivespace.org
Theme: The proposed two-day conference seeks
to investigate how diverse forms of inquiry across different disciplines
address issues of power and space in the contemporary urban environment.
In studying the contemporary city, as a pluralistic cultural, economic
and political system, a variety of interpretive procedures provide
insights on how power shapes space and, in reverse, how space reflects
power. This conference pursues both approaches: first, from the
point of view of the author-designer, it aims to track the conceptualization,
design and construction of space as an expression of multiple power
structures, and second, from the point of view of the citizen-user,
it aims to capture the experience and reading of space as dynamic
power structures. The distribution of power in the contemporary
city enables diverse mechanisms to transform the urban space. Studying
these transformations offers ways to redefine these relations, especially
insofar as it permits a reconsideration of the reasoning and the
ideological convictions on which power relations are grounded.
We aim to provide an open platform for discussion among
researchers and practitioners from various fields
(Architecture, Town Planning, Geography, Philosophy, Sociology
Digital Media and Cinema, Performing Arts and other Visual and Plastic
Arts) who wish to address economic, political,
cultural, social and philosophical issues pertaining to
the construction and experience of public or private space in the
contemporary city, under the perspective of power.
For detailed information on the Conference please visit the website:

ART IN PUBLIC SUMMER SCHOOL
Communication and Interaction through Art in Public Spaces
Interface Summer School in Belfast in association with Catalyst
Arts
The Communication and Interaction through Art in Public Spaces
Summer School will take place from 14 - 17 September 2007. It offers
a three-day programme and two evening lectures facilitated by four
experienced international artists:
Francis Zeischegg, Berlin, lead facilitator
Ele Carpenter, Newcastle
Ailbhe Murphy, Dublin
Susanne Bosch, Belfast | Berlin
In workshops and through discussions, participants will explore
and discover their own approaches to connect and exchange as artists
with a range of communities in different social settings. They will
encounter other models of participatory art practice through visits
to artists in Belfast and Northern Ireland, and insights into the
work of the four
facilitating artists.
The workshop is based on a catalogue of questions developed by Francis
Zeischegg.
The Summer School enables emerging artists to:
engage in a dialogue on art as communication
identify different strategies of participatory art practice in the
public space
enhance their ability to speak and write about their own experience
as emerging artists
identify needs for further skills and knowledge development in specific
communication situations
The Summer School will produce a publication that will make the
information and knowledge gained during the event accessible to
the wider public.
The event will take place in Catalyst Arts, Belfast, the city and
the region. It coincides with Catalyst Arts' public art project
“ Rag and bone' by Martin Carter.

Steirischer Herbst - Drei Workshops

-frequency: only once /einmal
-Discipline: Media research/experiment
-eligibility: Artists / KuenstlerInnen
-offered program:

Man redet
In welche zusammenhänge

Ideen neue, kreative Impulse verleihen.

xxxxx call 2007
xxxxx call for participation in a speculative 12 hour life
coding event (organising hardware and software) to be held
in Mid-November as part of the Piksel festival in Bergen, Norway:
http://www.piksel.no/
Deadline for email submission: July 31st 12AM [midnight]
Life coding is a mapping of the descriptive means of hardware and
programming onto the world. In this instance it includes the invention
and construction of models and language to actively describe and code
the event; instructing, structuring, re-structuring and constructing
the 12 hours. Life coding is obviously influenced by the existence
of programming, fiction, scripting and execution.
Participation is not limited to potential forms including:
- performative presentations
- advanced participatory workshops
- actions
- interventions
The above will be assembled into shifts which move between hardware,
interface and (life) code. Proposals should suggest which shift would
be suitable. Proposed topics for shifts include open hardware in relation
to control, the world as interface, material as question of substance
(soft/hard), and the relation of technology, code and pornography.

Westerweiterung Ein Kultur-Projekt
verschiedensten Blickwinkeln arbeiten will.
aufstellen. Alle Mitwirkenden kšnnen hierarbeiten und Aktionen
starten. Wir sind offen für alle Ausdrucksweisen.Einreichung
der Konzepte bis 31.07.2007Arbeitsphase im Laden Brunnenstra§e
