nun schon seit 20 Jahren! Beschenken Sie uns in unserem Jubiläumsjahr 2007 mit
besonders überzeugenden Projektideen. Stellen Sie Ihren Antrag!

CINEMA, MUSIC, LITERATURE AND THE ARTS/CINEMA, MUSIQUE, ARTS ET LITTERATURES
The 12th international conference of the SERCIA (Société d'Etudes et de Recherche sur le Cinéma Anglophone) will be held at the Maison de la Recherche at Toulouse le Mirail University (5 allée A.Machado, 31058 TOULOUSE-FRANCE) from Thursday 27 September 2007, 1 p.m. to Saturday 29 september 2007,5 p.m. The SERCIA is a French Society which aims at gathering academics in English Film Studies and Post-Graduate Film students from Universities in France, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, and the United States, by the organising an annual Conference and publishing the papers submitted at the Conference. The 2007 venue is organised thanks to the contribution of the host University - Toulouse le Mirail, and its 'Institut de Recherche Pluridisciplinaire Arts Lettres Langues de l'Université' (IRPALL). Two research groups will also participate in hosting the conference: the 'Laboratoire de Recherche en Audiovisuel' (LARA), and the research Group : 'Savoir, Praxis et Poïétique en Art' (SEPPIA). Hence, the SERCIA conference this year will be both trans-disciplinary and International.
Suggestions for papers
Cinema has always been 'in colour' and 'in music' though black & white became the standard artistic norm in the first half of the twentieth century. Since Black and White aesthetics prevailed in Silent and in Sound films, and technology to develop appropriate devices for colour to take over was slow, research on the subject involves numerous fields, as suggested below.
I -Colour and Film: specific issues ...
II-Transversal issues: Color, cinema and the other Arts, including Literature...
Papers should include the title and a fifteen-line summary, in French or in English, and sent by e-mail before
1st May 2007 in TWO copies to: Prof. R. Costa de Beauregard, r.costa-de-beauregard<a>wanadoo.fr, Conference organiser, and to the President of the SERCIA, Prof. Gilles Menegaldo, gilles.menegaldo<a>mshs.univ-poitiers.fr An acknowledgement will be sent after submission to the Conference Committee. You are requested to inquire in case you not received an answer by the end of June. The final program should be available by the end of June at the latest. Each paper should not exceed 30 minutes (length of final paper: 9 p., double space, Times New Roman); when registering with the IRPALL organisers, please state the material required for your paper.

Open Call for applications regarding to this exhibition

«The unsure mirror»
Photographic statements [subtitle tbd]

Place: Kunstverein INGAN e.V., Brunnenstr. 29, 10119 Berlin/Mitte
http://www.ingan.gmxhome.de
Entry deadline: 2nd of May 2007

We are looking forward to exhibit five artists in the exhibition «The unsure mirror» with photos in camera less, analog, digital or three-dimensional techniques.

Digital Art Weeks 2007

technology in the arts
-eligibility: International / All ages
-offered program: The Digital Art Weeks is concerned with the application of digital technology in the arts. It consists of a symposium, workshops, and performances. The program offers insight into current research and innovations in art and technology. Artists and researchers will examine the use of electronic media in articulating the performer's presence through the possibilities of the multi-sensuality of electronic media. The possibility of blurring the divide between public and performer to bond them through the powers of dissemination and inclusion inherent within the technology used will also be considered. The organizers of the Digital Art Weeks at ETH Zurich seek papers, posters, and performances on themes specific to performance using electronic media. We seek proposals that explore a concept of the Performative Surround in terms of how computer- mediated communication and dialog takes place between performers and viewers and how it tends to aid in dissolving the divide between performer and viewer.

22.05.2007 Call for Works for the 60x60 project, Radio City Station, New York, USA.
Vox Novus is inviting composers to submit works 60 seconds or less in length to included in its fifth annual 60x60 project. 60 compositions will be selected to be performed continuously in a one-hour concert, in conjunction with multimedia elements and an analog clock marking the passage of time.
During the concert each of the 60 pieces selected will begin precisely at the beginning of the minute, this will mark the end of one piece and the beginning of another. There will be no pause between the pieces. Works may be less than 60 seconds in length, but may not exceed 60 seconds. Works selected that are less than 60 seconds long will be "padded" with silence either before, after, or surrounding the composition. Please note that the total duration of the work including silence may NOT exceed sixty seconds. The 60x60 project's definition of a record work is as follows: any work created as a musical composition which is captured on recorded media, which does not require live performers for its production in broadcast at concert halls, radio, multi-media, etc. Its creation can include but not limited to acoustic instruments, voice, environmental sources, and computer (Sampling, MIDI, C Sound, ProTools, etc.)
Acoustic compositions should be submitted with the understanding that it is their recording that is of prime importance and is what will be used to determine its selection. Scores of works are strongly discouraged and will not be used in the selection process.

24.05.2007 Call for participants in Documenta 12, Kassel,
Call for answers:
http://documenta-dock.net
questions about art - explore, ask, inspire
All pupils and interested laypeople will find documenta-dock.net to be a visitor-oriented website whose intention is to convey the theoretical underpinnings and "cultural superstructure" of the coming documenta 12, or of contemporary art in general. This website is being developed as part of an interdisciplinary project at the School of Art and Design Kassel, with the help of those involved in studies of art and media education, new media and art history. When the documenta begins on June 16, 2007, the documenta-dock will also go online. In order to give users an opportunity to deal with "questions about art" beforehand, a teaser website will be posted starting at the beginning of May at http://documenta-dock.net.
Art is often perceived as being burdensome or hermetic, and must therefore expect to meet with a great deal of resistance. Our web forum is a research experiment in which we intend to find out whether the internet, with its specific possibilities and modalities, is capable of furthering interest in contemporary art, especially among young people.
To this end, we will primarily work with brief video interviews expanded by links to other issues and subject areas. The video interviews are not chiefly intended to provide a comprehensive presentation but rather statements, considerations, attitudes or even to putting forward new questions. The people we interview come from all walks of life. They are artists, athletes, musicians, pupils, curators, art historians, journalists, art critics, gallery owners, museum people, students, politicians, social workers ...
The goal of the project is to gather together an exciting pool of statements which takes advantage of the possibilities the medium of the internet offers by making use of links and key words. Hence it will be an interactive forum, since users will be able to add their own contributions - in the form of text or video. Many of the questions will be similar to one another, yet we still hardly expect clear-cut answers. Instead, this should create thematic horizons in which people can situate and give contours to possible answers of their own and from which, above all, new questions can arise.
As an addition to the interviews we would like to include artistic contributions to one or more of the following questions:
What is 'bare' life?
What does art mean to you?
What can art achieve and where are its limits?
We would be grateful and delighted if you could participate in our project.
Please send your video (as DVD or miniDV) to:

31.05.2007 The Leonardo Electronic Almanac (ISSN No: 1071-4391) is inviting papers and artworks that address dispersion - dispersion of bodies, objects, landscapes, networks, virtual and real worlds.

A fundamental shift in the way we view the world is underway: the abandonment of discrete objects, and objecthood itself. The world is now plural, and the distinction between real and virtual is becoming increasingly blurred, with troubling consequences within the geopolitical register. This shift is related to a cultural change that emphasizes
digital deconstruction over analog construction: a photograph for example can be accessed and transformed, pixel by pixel, cities can be taken apart by gerrymandering or eminent domain, and our social networks are replete with names and images that problematize friendship, sexuality, and culture itself. One issue that emerges here: Are we networking or are we networked?
Are we networks ourselves?

LEA is interested in texts and works that deal with this fundamental shift in new and illuminating ways. Specifically, anything from essays through multimedia through networks themselves may be considered. We're particularly interested in submissions that deal with the incoherency of the world, and how to address it.
