Heimspiel
I am working on the exhibition ‘Heimspiel. Sport – Standort – Spektakel’ (“Home Game”). It will show critically the links between the football World Cup 2006 in Germany, forms of new German nationalism and identity, profit for national economies, FIFA and corruption, football and commercialisation. The exhbition discusses repression of football fans and
its part in creating a surveillance state.
The exhibiton will open on 2nd june in the NGBK (New Association of Fine Arts Berlin) gallery, Berlin and runs parallel to the World Cup. You could send some sentences on a postcard, a satire, a poem, write a song, draw a picture, do a collage or just swear. Or you coud just write that the exhibition will be made for a bunch of idiots... We will show your postcard in the exhibtion “Home Game”, that’s for sure.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
CROSSINGS
GOALGROUP: Artists of all backgrounds and levels of experience are invited to submit images of their work by email, a short bio or description of their work, and a brief statement about their interest in this project.
We are looking primarily for photography, drawings, paintings, and small sculptural works, and encourage artists to use the theme of the exhibition and event, “Crossings,” as a point of departure for their selection or creation of work for this submission.
OFFERED PROGRAM: We are looking for artists who are interested in showing their work in a one-night exhibition and art auction at a benefit gala in early June at the Viktoria Quartier in Kreuzberg, Berlin. The artists are welcome to attend the event (which will also include live musical entertainment, wine, and food) for free, and will also receive 15% of the final auction price of their artwork. The remainder of the auction price, and the rest of the proceeds from the evening’s event, will go to support the Youthbridge Initiative, a non-partisan, non-profit organization that works to empower youth to take personal action and responsibility for building peace in their communities. Specifically, the primary goal for the event in June is to raise funds for a summer peace camp for Croatian and Serbian high school students from Vukovar, Croatia. The theme “Crossings” refers both to the work the students are able to undertake at this camp towards forging connections
across lines of ethnic divide in their town, and also more generally to the crossing of all the emotional and physical barriers to understanding between people. More information about Youthbridge at: http://www.the-youthbridge-initiative.org/

The Digitalis Digital Art Society (http://www.ddas.ca/ddas) in
collaboration with the New Forms Festival'05
(http://www.newformsfestival.com/) announces DIGITALIS: Patterns: An
Exhibition of Digital Print, to be held September 15 - 25, 2005 in
Vancouver, Canada.
This exhibition will present digital print images that incorporate pattern
to suggest or represent natural ecologies of thought, media or irritation.
Without necessarily defining what patterns subconsciously represent, this
exhibiton acknowledges that patterns encapsulate primal and transcendental
communications, where shapes and colours are ultimate embodiments of beings
or living forms. Images can be decorative, geometric, iconically repetitive
or reminiscent of wallpaper or 1970-80's pattern painting. Images will have
been manipulated in some way by the computer.
Please send all submissions by email with attached JPEGS (and their framed
print dimensions) with a short bio to Digitalis curator James K-M at
electric(a)telus.net by May 1, 2005. There is no entry fee and the New Forms
Festival'05 will pay return shipping fees.
In Understanding Media (1964) Marshall McLuhan wrote: ""What we are
considering here, however, are the psychic and social consequences of the
designs or patterns as they amplify or accelerate existing processes. For
the ""message"" of any medium or technology is the change of scale or pace or
pattern that it introduces into human affairs.""

Call for Entries:
9th festival garage in August 2005 in Stralsund / Germany forget it! don't trust your archives Data, images, sounds, terms, definitions, signs, contacts, biometrical
information, stamps ... Our culture is determined by the urge to collect and
to archive, to save and to index, to systemise and to codify. Thanks to
digitisation we are relieved of the tedious obligation to decide what is
worth preserving - we therefore save everything and decide later what we
need.
The confidence we have in the perfection of recording technologies, database
systems, search algorithms and collaborative filter mechanisms change our
reception of reality. The awareness of the ability to save and recall everything for later use reduces our willingness to concentrate on the moment. Not the event is important but the condensed information in a practical storage format.
Reference is security. To leave the field of what is considered secure is a risk. Imperfection, coincidence, spontaneity - what cannot be saved, recorded and documented? What is the quality of the non-permanent? What sense makes an archive nobody is looking at? How productive is oblivion?
Rewriting of rules, breaking off processes, selecting and deleting - garage 05 is searching for artists' approaches and positions that critically discuss the technologies and techanics of saving, archiving and forgetting.
Send us your proposals and concepts for presentations, installations, performances, projects, papers, and workshops. Submission deadline for materials and proposals is 2nd May 2005. application forms and info: http://www.garage-g.de/call05

Cinematheque at MediaCentre
<http://www.le-musee-divisioniste.org/mediacentreannounces the opening of Cinema_C
by launching a special call for submissions
(can be also downloaded from
<http://service.nmartproject.net/calls/call_cinemac.htm)
--Title:
O-C-I-N ´
Online Cinema - Interactive Narratives
New extended deadline Monday, 2 May 2005
O-C-I-N
is a new project environment going down to
experimental forms of cinema in an online context.
Until now, the spaces of Cinematheque were mainly presenting streaming video
works of different kind and interactivity played basically rather a certain role concerning interface design than a conceptional component of the art works themselves.
.
Cinema_C and ""O-C-I-N"" will focus on the conceptional role of interactivity
as a basic component for a new film creation by involving the user actively in the process and progress of story telling.
.
The participating artist or artists collaborative are free to choose and develop their story and the specific way they allow/enforce the user to take influence on the progress of the
story in a conceptional and technological concern, and these represent also the basic conditions for creating the art work.
