Curatorial Residencies in Helsinki
Helsinki International Curatorial Programme currently offers curatorial residencies in Helsinki for international visual arts curators. The programme is collaboration between HIAP - Helsinki International Artist-in-residence Programme and FRAME Finnish Fund for Art Exchange.
The aim of the programme is to provide curators with an opportunity to carry out research on Finnish fine art, to build contacts with Finnish art practitioners and cultural organisations and to develop international curatorial projects involving Finnish participants.
The programme is open to curators worldwide with professional experience in organising visual arts projects.

This C4P is for co-productions of original and creative one-minute/ one-shot silent films to be produced via LoftCity’s site and distributed by LoftCity to web destination sites and mobile service providers.
LoftCity will grant $1500 to the winning film of this C4P.
Brief:
Film historians consider the Grand Café screening by the Lumiere brothers in 1895 to be the true birth of cinema as a commercial medium.
Each film screened was one minute long and consisted of one shot.
The Lumiere brothers shot with a camera called the Cinématographe, a three-in-one device, which shot, developed and projected the moving images.
This C4P is homage to the Lumiere brothers’ work.

Brief
A new frontier video is experimental film that pushes the boundaries of traditional aesthetics and the narrative structures of filmmaking.
Experimental film is often characterized by the absence of linear narrative, the use of various abstracting techniques (i.e. out of focus, painting or scratching, rapid editing, etc.), the use asynchronous sounds or even the absence of any soundtrack.
The goal of the new frontier video is to place the viewer in a more active and thoughtful relationship with the film.

Financial plan: 20 participants of the summer school will be chosen on highly competitive basis among young teaching assistants and researchers in the fields of economy, marketing, development studies, urban studies, advertising, culture and art management, etc. There are 15 full scholarships available to the most successful applicants to weave the complete costs of the two-week course for the most successful participants including: participation fees, accommodation, full board and reimbursement of the travel expenses. In addition there are 10 places available for the eligible candidates who will not be selected for scholarships but who are eligible and want to attend the programme on their own expense (560 EUR FB, two weeks, the same hotel). Hacker Space Fest (HSF)
What would the Internet look like without hackers? What would computing look like without free and open source software? What would the culture look like with DRM and closed media channels everywhere?
Where do art and technology merge? Would Gilbert Simondon be happy if he were alive today? Many questions will be debated during the first Hacker Space Fest from the 16th to the 22nd June 2008 near Paris, in the industrial outskirts of Vitry-sur-Seine.
The first Hacker Space Fest (HSF) will be held at the /tmp/lab near Paris, France in June 2008. The goal of this festival is to bring together people from many cultural and technological backgrounds and from different Hacker Spaces and Autonomous zones in France and Europe (and from beyond, if they can attend) to share and show what's
going on.
The broad term "hacking" is understood in this context as "creative use of technology" and not "illegal computer break in" (we don't buy the political & media terror-inducing FUD).

Kunstwettbewerb - Kunst am Bau
Auslober Vermögen und Bau Baden-Württemberg
Aufgabe Für den Erweiterungsbau der Medizinischen Klinik soll für mindestens einen von insgesamt 3 Standorten ein Kunstbeitrag entwickelt werden.
Der Erweiterungsbau befindet sich auf der Rückseite der Medizinischen und Chirurgischen Klinik des Universitätsklinikums und wird im Wesentlichen die Notfallaufnahme beider Kliniken, Intensivstationen und die interventionelle Kardiologie aufnehmen. Kunstbeiträge sind vor allem im Bereich der dreigeschossigen sog. Magistrale vorgesehen, die entlang des Erweiterungsbaues angeordnet ist und über die der Erweiterungsbau mit den übrigen Kliniken verbunden ist.
Für die erste Wettbewerbsphase wird kein Honorar gezahlt. In der zweiten Wettbewerbsphase erhalten die Teilnehmer ein Bearbeitungshonorar von je EUR 2.000.- (brutto). Die Realisierungssumme für den Kunstbeitrag beträgt EUR 183.000.- (brutto).

However, these applicants will be offered the weaving of the fees of 100 EUR from the total ammount. Unfortunately there are no funds for covering the travel expenses. The organisers will provide letters of support to the applicants needing support for covering the travel costs. For the successfully completed summer school the participants that will attend and actively take part in the programme will receive certificate measured up to 5 credits according to ECT system of evaluation.

Im Herbst 2008 wird unter der Schirmherrschaft der Oberbürgermeisterin der Stadt Halle (Saale), Dagmar Szabados, in der Kunsthalle Villa Kobe zum siebten Male die „Große Kunstausstellung Halle (Saale)“ stattfinden. Hierzu sind alle auf dem Gebiet der Bildenden Kunst schaffenden Künstlerinnen und Künstler eingeladen. Aus den Einreichungen wählt die Jury die Arbeiten für die Ausstellung des Jahres 2008 aus. Die Ausstellungsbeiträge werden in einem Katalog dokumentiert.

In 2008, the Kurt Eisner Kulturstiftung (Cultural Foundation) will once again be presenting an award for the creation of an artistic work.
Marking the 90th anniversary of Kurt Eisner's proclamation of the "Free State" of Bavaria, this award will support artworks and projects that take a political stand in the sense of the ideals of freedom espoused by Eisner and the "Council of Intellectual Workers", and at the same time demonstrate and re?ect the con temporary relevance of issues raised during the period of the Bavarian soviet republic.

Guidelines:
The award is open to artists working in any visual art or com munication medium, including photography, performance, installation, conceptual art and video art. Professional artists from all over the world are invited to submit proposals for projects on the subject. The realisation in November 2008 coincides with the anniversary of Eisner's proclamation in 1918. A total funding amount of EUR 8.000 is available to support the realisation of at least one artistic project. Selection will be made by the board of the Kurt Eisner Kulturstiftung.

PhotoVision, der renommierte jährliche Nachwuchtförderpreis der Zeitschrift Photographie, sucht nach Antworten auf diese Frage.

Wer kann teilnehmen?
Am Nachwuchswettbewerb können sich Studenten, Auszubildende und Absolventen aus den Bereichen Fotografie und Fotodesign beteiligen sowie Fotografen mit abgeschlossenem Studium oder abgeschlossener Ausbildung, die nicht älter sind als 32Jahre.
