tank.tv is inviting submissions to its forthcoming show, The Whole World, curated by Ian White.
The Whole World is a list of lists: a programme of artists' film and video and an interactive online exhibition.
Both a formal device and a political strategy, film and video that deploys a list as part of its structure often does so with political intent: to subvert hierarchies, to undermine rationalism or to reveal contradiction. In contemporary culture the pop chart's Top 10 has been replaced by an ever-expanding craze for "Top 100s" of everything from Hollywood genres to celebrity gaffes. The Whole World attempts to wrestle back the initiative…
The Whole World is situated somewhere between the absurd and obsessive enterprises of Flaubert's eponymous characters Bouvard and Pecuchet (they hopelessly collect and explore until, exhausted, they revert to their original jobs as copy clerks) and the Japanese animated game Katamari in which players roll all matter – objects, buildings, landscapes, the world itself - into snowballing globes of stuff. The Whole World is ridiculous and irreverent, ambitious and viral.
All are invited to contribute to the programme selected by Ian White by uploading their own video list, be that an extract from an existing work or something made specially for the purpose, to compile a unique, exponential collection: an extraordinary list of lists, of the world as we know it – the whole world. Submissions will be considered for both tank.tv and the CASZartscreen in Amsterdam.

Yekaterinburg «Koltsovo» airport announces the beginning of the international exhibition project «ILLUMINATORY» which will be shown in April ­ June 2008 in the open spaces of the International terminal of the airport. The works for the exhibitions will be selected on a competitive basis by an international award panel.
The organizers invite the artists to submit digital prints and digital video in the form of «tondo» to the competition. The exhibition «ILLUMINATORS» opens the «Art-Koltsovo» program.
The exhibition will show modern versions of «tondo» ­ the form of pictures with ancient traditions.
We accept electronic files of works which can be reproduced by the organizers like as digital prints, light boxes, video objects/installations and video projections,. The organizers are going to challenge the interior environment of the international terminal of «Koltsovo» airport. Visually the exposition will be represented by numerous round spots of lights «floating/hovering» free in the airport cubage.

The theme for M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2009 is Art and Family. We are looking for works in all disciplines that will fall within that theme. Paid by artists: You are responsible for: a well-presented and exciting performance or exhibition;
your return air tickets to Singapore (Exceptions may be made if we are able to obtain funding support from your respective embassies or cultural institutions. Spring 2009 exhibition series
Here, There and Everywhere: Anticipating the Art of the Future. Alert to the internet’s dissolving of borders and the explosion of innovation through collaboration, TransCultural Exchange invites artists to work with individuals around the world to create new collaborative art works for a series of exhibitions and catalog entitled Here, There and Everywhere: Anticipating the Art of the Future.
Individual artists, curators and gallerists are invited to submit proposals for collaborative art works and exhibitions to be shown anywhere in the world, in addition to being featured at TransCultural Exchange’s 2009 Conference on International Opportunities in the Arts.
Resultant collaborative projects will be included in TransCultural Exchange’s catalog for Here, There and Everywhere: Anticipating the Art of the Future, on TransCultural Exchange’s website and at TransCultural Exchange’s 2009 Conference on International Opportunities in the Arts, which will take place in Boston April 3 - 5, 2009.

European Festival Research Project
announces 2 research workshops to take place in 2008
URBAN IMPACT OF ARTISTIC FESTIVALS

and invites researchers to submit proposals for inclusion in the workshops' programs.

Interested researchers should submit a 100-150 word summary of their presentation to Dr Dragan Klaic (Leiden University), Chair of the EFRP (draganklaic|a| gmail.com) by February 25 for the Helsinki workshop and May 15 for the Moscow workshop.
Researchers selected for the workshop program will be informed by March 3, 2008 (Helsinki) and May 20 (Moscow) and asked to prepare a 15 min oral presentation in English, based on a power point of a maximum of 10 slides. Power point presentations should be sent by March 31 (Helsinki) and September 1st (Moscow). Researchers agree that EFRP places their powerpoints at the EFRP public depository at the web site of European Festival Association.

Entries for the Bauhaus Award 2008 may be submitted from 1st January to 31st March 2008.
With the Bauhaus Award 2008, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation continues its research into "Updating Modernism". In doing so, a central topic of the historic Bauhaus is taken up and introduced into a contemporary discourse: solutions are sought for the minimum subsistence level housing of today.
The homeless, subtenants, residents and asylum seekers in emergency housing; long-term unemployed, young people without qualifications; emigrants, migrants, students, low-earners, retirees; single parents and families with many children all have difficulties finding housing in cities. The Bauhaus Award 2008 will look at the social standards of the modern age in the field of housing and examine these in the light of the current housing crisis. The issue at the heart of the Award will be: poverty and housing shortages. Design-based plans or concepts and models or scenarios for housing policy are sought for minimum subsistence level housing. The focus will be on the development or design of affordable housing options in urban space. Candidates are expected to explore the existential standards and social requirements of the societies on which they base their Award entry.
Individuals or groups may enter work developed in the last five years - design outlines, plans, research projects, films, concepts, etc. Participants may include designers, artists and researchers who are under 40 years of age by the project completion date. The first prize is 6,000 Euro the second 4,000 Euro and the third 2,000 Euro. Presentation of prizes 21st June 2008.

„movies & stills 2008“
is an international HD short film competition, for which entries are invited both from media academies as well as from film academies and film universities and is, therefore, primarily aimed at young media artists and young film makers. The focus is on HD clips and their visualisation in powerfully expressive single images (stills).
Students, graduates and freelancers are invited to participate, collaborations are welcome, but not mandatory. “movies & stills 2008” is open to all topics; the closing date for entries is 31st March 2008. Conditions for Participation
To be admitted, clips must be submitted on data media in HD format together with one to maximum four hardcopy stills in DIN A4 format as well as a high-quality data file. They should show powerfully expressive motifs from the clip and should serve as a focal point of the film presentation. It is decisive that the relationship between the single image and the film presentation, both in terms of content and form, should become evident.
