statement
Irene Anton is a multifaceted artist. The variety of her work consists in design, painting, stained glass, object, installation and landart.
In her recent work she’s creating outdoor installations and objects for fields, forests and lakes, mostly playing with the power of the elements by using textile materials.
After having worked with glass and metal trash materials another recent development in her work is the creation of small textile objects or those that are in context with textile materials and technics. She works with various textile technics like for example weaving, knitting, sewing, quilting, applicating or any other mixed technic.
The recycling aspect is important in her work, so she reuses for example materials for her small textile objects and reliefs. The titles of her works many times are games with words in different languages. In her landart-installations she enjoys to play with the elements, to activate the sences and to mark the landscape temporarily.
Irene Anton gets her inspirations for example from urban structures, architecture, landscapes, maps, natural structures, airial photographs, ethnics, politics and unusual materials.
