Statement
The idea, the thought, the draft are the bases for the execution of my artwork. Ideas come from everyday life situations, social and cultural atmospheres. Then the idea expresses itself in the performances and installation art. As well as this, I use the body as a means of expression.
The artistic idea is expressed using the body alone, as part of the installation and within the context of an audience.
The subjects I deal with are time, movement, space, material, body, action/interaction. I try to create works of art that leave for the viewer, free space for associations and new possibilities. I take a special situation from everyday life and without illustrating this one for one; I place it into a new context.
I aim to create art where all of the elements are connected together to form a whole work of art ( Gesamtkunstwerk)

"Border Inside" Videoperformance and Object 2011
The boundaries of nation typically arise in our minds and settle in many forms, as shown in the national anthem or the flag as a symbol. The artist describes the American flag, a phenomenon that has shaped the culture and way of life of large sections of humanity in the last 150 years, reaching a point wehre the American flag was taken as an instrument of border settlement even on the Moon (1969) as a visible sign. Chewing gum is also known ever since industrialization in the United States as trademark (eventhough science points out, chewing gum has already been found 2500 years before in agypt).
Ironically, the artist plays with the border in our heads. The viewer can follow in the videoperformance (time shortend) showing the process of creating the american flag with chewing gum, inscribing a frontier in our consciousness.
In the Videoperformance she chews one after the other and glue the chwening gums on the glass. during the prosess, the american flag is developed and ends when the flag is done. this performance needs 10 hours – the video 10 minutes.
After the performance, the glasconstructions stands as object.
Duration of the Performance: 10 hours
Duration of the Video: timelaps10 min
Equipment:
1000 Chewing gums (3 colours white, red and blue)
2 m high x 1 m wide x 12 mm deep
metallconstruction for the glas that stands in the room.
the size of the flag will be around 50x75 cm.

"Living Room" Performance Installation 2010
In the performance installation "Living Room" by Nezaket Ekici, the viewer discovers on the way through the forest (Sales ditch, Fürstenfeld Össterreich) 10 people from different cultures and the artist in bathtubs (Africa, Korea, Turkey, Austria, Serbia, Germany). The white tubs of our time are removed from their original place of habitation and transplanted into nature. This leads to a skuril scenario: bathing is renatured. Historically seen, bathing became was important since the early civilizations. For the ancient Greeks and Romans, bathing culture had a very high priority, esspecially bathing in public. This changed in accordance with social conventions and new technologies over the centuries: In modern times, bathing transformed into an intimate process. The intimicy of bathing can be seen as an aspect of identity formation of modern humans. With Gertrude Stein one could say: I am me, because I have a bath.
The people in the performance installation do ritual washing in nature and and seem to be a part of the natural environment. Viewers hear, smell and see the forest and the bathers. The bathing people sing or hum in their language and they splash in the foam. The name of the work is program: "Living Room”. They turned a public place into theri onw living room, offering the viewer the opportunity to look into the intimate process of bathing. The viewer can see into the bathroom of other people and other cultures at the same time and so the distinction between private and public forces to gain a new perspective.

"Defiant" Performance Installation 2009
The artist Nezaket Ekici wears a dress made of a persistend material that is normally used in the automotive industry. The material corresponds with the name of the art work: "Defiant" (German: Widerspenstig) already contains the basic message.
The red dress is studded with over 4000 individual toothpicks and reminds the viewer of a defensive fortress.
In a subtle way, the artist deals in her performance with the topic of defense, speaking about protect mechanisms, which everyone uses. If someone falls below a certain distance to another person, one reacts repelling. If someone comes too close, he can even injure himself. The invisible defensive shield, everyone carries around, will now be made visible in an aesthetic way.
During the performance the artist invites the audience to come closer to touch the dress. At the border of the dress, people will be rejected.
Standing on a pedestal, the artist takes up several positions, standing like a sculpture, even if the position causes pain. The artist shows, what it means to self-harm in defensive mode. The whole scene is projected to the wall, showing the danger of the toothpicks close up.
The viewer has almost the impression that the artist's own defense mechanism becomes visible in this confrontation with herself. The individual is thrown back on him or herself and recognizes that attraction and repelling at the same time is needed, in order not to lose oneself.
Performance:
The artist comes into the room, moving through the audience, hugging the people with her dress on, or taking hands, leading them to the dress. Then she goes to a central place for sculpturing. Then she calls some people to come to her, touching her and standing as close as possible. Then the performance ends.
All that will be broadcast live via camera, so that everyone sees the details.

"Madonna" Performance Installation of 2008
The artist stands on a pedestal, looking over the heads of the audience. As a Madonna she looks into the air, closer to heaven than to the world. The candles symbolize the wishes of the people, carried into heaven by the sight of Madonna reaching out for fulfilment. Up to here, this is the understanding of the cult about Madonna. There are 37 candles above the artist, standing for the age of the artist. The candles hang upside down and are therefore not addressing the sky, but earth. Life has not only the bright sight for us, but also sad moments. In a quiet meditative attitude, the artist, enflames one candle above her after the other, till all candles burn. It is not only meditative, but also a painful experience, caused by the hot wax, dropping down onto the artist. The hot wax grounds the Madonna and makes her a real person, when she realizes pain. Madonna is demystified and the viewer comes back to himself, when he mentions, he knows the feeling of hot wax on the skin. The performance ends after about 30 minutes.

"Lifting a Secret" Performance Installation 2007
The artist lifts a secret, a personal story out of her life. Her Performance combines coffee and Vaseline as legible text on a wall surface, hence, creating a wall painting as self-contained artwork.
She writes with Vaseline onto the wall, and through dumping the coffee with a cup onto it for ours and hours, the writings become visible and readable step by step.
In her story she relates to the ceremony of cooking coffee in order to show out, that she is ready for marriage.
As a young man comes visiting her and her parents with his parents, she has to serve the coffee in a traditional way. Only if she is cooking good coffee and served, she is a good house wife and good for marriage.

"Atropos" Performance Installation 2006
The artist did this performance first time in Sinopale , First Sinop Biennale, in the women prison. She works on the act of the liberation in an abstract way. She carries out an act of the self-liberation, while she frees herself with the help of a sissle from long ropes fastened at the roof and to the hair. She cuts off a part of her hair and in this way dissociates herself from a piece of herself. This work can be seen as a vital discussion about the question on the sense of life, that is partly characterised by striving for freedom. Particularly, because hair can be considered as a symbol of life. The name of the Performance installation "Atropos" is related to the Greek myth of the moira, the goddnesses of fate. Atropos, who is one of them splits according to the myth the fate threads of the life with a sissle. The artist shows with the radical act of the hair-cut a way out. She takes fate into her own hands and frees herself, like Atropos did. At least the act of the cutting can be seen as an attempt of liberation in itself.
Duration of the Performance: 1 hour
Presented at:
Sinopale, 1. Sinop Biennale, Türkei, 15.8.-3.9.2006
